About the event
One  of the greatest honors available to the young men of Thailand and Nepal  is the opportunity to serve in the monk hood. Often families will  encourage their sons to spend a few months in a monastery in  contemplation, reflection simplicity and discipline to gain wisdom and  insight before embarking on their life journey. Here at Three Leaf we  would like to offer you the opportunity to experience the meditative  lifestyle of simplicity discipline and contemplation by living as a  contemporative monastic member of the Vaisnava tradition.
From  the pre-dawn early morning worship, meditation and reflection, through  classes on the ancient Vedic literature to engagement in seva (selfless  service), you will spend the weekend immersed in bhakti-yoga or  devotional service doing a range of things from cleaning pots and  mopping floors to mucking out the cows or chopping vegetables.
During  the meals you will have the opportunity to meet, talk and interact with  community members from other countries and other states. There will be a  chance to go on a herb walk and learn about the role of plants as  medicine and make a herbal preparation. You will also learn how to make,  prepare and offer a vegetarian meal in the Vaisnava tradition and in  the evening join the community in traditional Indian call and response  music of bhajans and kirtan, around a bonfire.
There  are ample opportunities to ask questions and browse the extensive  library of Vedic literature, which includes the Bhagavad-gita as it is.  Take the time in an environment free from the distractions of  technology, traffic and the chaos of humanity immersed in the peaceful  natural beauty of the valley, to go deeper into oneself and reflect on  the nature of life, the universe and everything.
